Cancellation & Refund Policy
Customer-Initiated Cancellations
At least 5 days before pick-up:
97% refund of the base rental cost (3% processing fee applies).
Less than 5 days before pick-up:
Non-refundable (see exceptions below).
How to Cancel
We appreciate receiving an email at Steveann@drive-about.com or a text message letting us know the reason for your cancellation.
Use the “Cancel” button in your confirmation email (located under the vehicle photo).
Cancellation must be completed before midnight AKST, 5 days prior to the pick-up date.
If less than 5 days before pick-up, please call or text.
Policy Exceptions (Less Than 5 Days)
Cruise Ship or Alaska Seaplane Non-Arrival:
Full refund if verified; proof may be required.
Illness, Quarantine, or Medical Evacuation:
Refunds are not offered due to privacy and verification limitations.
These two exceptions permit one (1) rebooking within the same calendar year, subject to availability.
Delayed Arrivals:
Refunds are not guaranteed and are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Owner-Initiated Cancellation
If available, an alternative vehicle will be offered first.
If the reservation must be canceled, a full refund will be issued, and the 3% processing fee will be waived.
Failure to Complete Required Documentation
If the renter does not complete the required rental agreement and provide all requested information by the deadline stated in the confirmation email (within 3 days of payment), and does not respond to reminder messages, the reservation may be canceled.
Cancellations due to incomplete documentation are treated as customer-initiated cancellations.
The 3% processing fee is not waived.
Reminders may be sent via email, phone call, and/or text.
